Don't Be Caught, Traveller Warns

THIS letter is to inform people who are travelling in Australia not to take out medical insurance.
I recently went on a tour to Western Australia and being honest, and as I had had bowel cancer 12 years ago, I notified the company of a pre-existing illness even though I have been in remission all that time. This cost me an extra $30 on my travel insurance.
I assumed I would be covered and unfortunately I had a fall two days before returning home. I assumed, again, I would be reimbursed, but was told I was not covered because the Government had passed a law that you could only be covered by Medicare.
Therefore, why take out medical insurance plus the extra $30?
As I tore tendons in my arm I have since paid out $6000, having to go to a private hospital or wait for one year in excruciating pain.
I consider this was fraud and just another way of taking money for nothing. So be warned, don't be caught.
